Finally, a great set of toy soldiers! September 29, 2009 Eilish J. De Jager 19 out of 20 found this review helpful
After buying my four-year-old son multiple sets of cheap toy soldiers, I found this one that just came out. What a great set! There are ten different poses of soldiers, plus two parachuting soldiers, the soldiers have sturdy bases so they aren't hard for little fingers to set up and it comes in a nice big tub with a handle, perfect for taking along to Grandpa's house! The figures themselves are nicely made and detailed, without any molding edges that could scratch little ones. The only knock would be that the parachutes get easily tangled, but I really don't know how you could avoid that problem in any set. I would highly recommend this to any parent looking for a toy to stimulate the imagination.
A Christmas hit with our 7-year old and 5-year old sons! December 27, 2009 Jared Castle (Roseburg, Oregon United States) 8 out of 9 found this review helpful
The 72-piece "Bucket O Soldiers", a part of the Toy Story collector's edition, captures the fun of little green army men at a great price. My sons are too young to have experienced Toy Story (1995) and Toy Story 2 (1999) in the theaters. They only recently experienced Woody, Buzz and the rest of the toys on DVD, so I was unsure how they would like greet a bucket of plastic army men under the Christmas tree.
I sat on the couch, watching my sons set up soldiers on the wood floor. Inspiration took hold. Soon, they added a couple Matchbox cars; then, a multi-colored wall of Legos and, finally, four glow-in-the-dark super balls (which rolled through the soldiers with dramatic effect). I could no longer sit idly by and watch. Nostalgia had me on the floor, reliving my childhood with my sons.
Waaaaaaahooooooooooooooooooo!!!
Great features:
Value - you get 72 soldiers (includes 2 airborne soldiers with parachutes) in each bucket.
Portability - the toy soldiers easily fit inside, making this a great travel toy.
Quality - I noted the bucket was made in China but the molds are fantastic and clean; I haven't come across a bad edge yet.
In summary, this is a good, introductory collection at a great value. Don't choose the flimsy, inferior quality toy soldiers sold at dollar stores and discount warehouses. Your children will love appreciate the quality provided by Disney & Pixar.
Rating: Five stars.
They're Plastic Pieces of Fun! June 11, 2010 Michael Flores (CYPRESS, TX, US) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
My son like numerous other children loves the Toy Story movies. He loves these little guys they are exactly like the movie, except they don't come to life. However, you will come to life when you step on one of these at 5:00 AM in the morning!!
Great soldiers!! Love these!! May 12, 2010 Ashley Alexander (Raceland, Louisiana United States) These toy soldiers were absolutely wonderful for my 5 year old son! They look JUST like the ones in the movie!! And I love the fact that there's no sharp edges to cut his little fingers on. Like someone above me said - the only bad thing is that the parachutes do get tangled up very easily, but I really don't think there is any that can be done about that. We LOVE these & have TONS of fun playing with them! Would definately recommend them! :)
Tangled strings but cool May 28, 2010 Tookie (Chicago, IL USA) It is a nice set. You get 72 soldiers (including two paratroopers). The main problem with the paratroopers is first when you put them back in the bucket the strings get tangled up and it's a real stress to fix. Also, with the paratroopers it's hard to let them drop. I'm always afraid the soldiers going to melt, but they are a cool toy anyway. There are even some poses I've never seen before!
